It was absolutely terrifying! A 44 hour long power failure caused by the “cyclone bomb” windstorm. The frightening part was Scotch Nite was almost cancelled. Luckily clean living and luck prevailed and we had power restored for the event. Bullet dodged!


Round 1: Jura Seven Wood

  • Jura’s single distillery seems to have been founded around 1810 and was rebuilt in 1876

  • Palate: Nice
  • Finish: Sweetness on the tongue, lingers a bit, not strong
  • Drinkability: 7,7.2,7.5,7.5,6,6.1
  • Notes: Not memorable, but very nice

Round 2: GlenAllachie

Cost: $110 CDNRegion: Speyside

Fun Facts:

  • The box is purple!

NSC Comments:

  • Colour: Mahogany
  • Nose: Bit of spice
  • Palate: Complex, coffee, creamy, sweet
  • Finish: Sharp drop
  • Drinkability: 5.5,6.0,6.0,6.5,6.0,5.8
  • Notes: A wee burn

Bonus Round: Westland American Single Malt

  • Shipped all that way from Seattle.

  • Colour: Sherry colour
  • Nose: Alcohol and used oil
  • Palate: Strong citrus on the tongue
  • Finish: Long, surprisingly
  • Drinkability: 4.0,4.0,5.7,6.0,3.9,4.0
  • Notes: Not complex or complicated, inoffensive
    A tad rough on the finish
