A gathering of the group around the dining room table where we stayed until all of the world’s problems were solved.

Except… for the notes of the meeting. Vanished. Means we may need to test these ones again! Oh no!

Round 1: Tamnavulin Double Cask

Cost: $60 CDNRegion: Speyside

Fun Facts:

  • Tamnavulin Double Cask was the first release from the distillery since the 1990s!

NSC Comments:

  • Colour: Copper to Gold
  • Nose: Fruity, Spicy, Citrus
  • Palate: Fruit, Smooth, Creamy, Floral
  • Finish: Short, Sharp drop
  • Drinkability: 7.6,6.0,6.8,7.0,6.6,7.0,6.0,7.0
  • Notes: This is a terrific one (from my memory). A very easy drink, and a great starter scotch.
    A nice drop with a quick finish. A good sipper.
    You could even drink this one out for your relatives

Round 2: Port Askaig Islay 8 Year Old

Cost: $89 CDNRegion: Islay

Fun Facts:

  • Enjoyably smokey and elegant – a neat introduction to the range.

NSC Comments:

  • Colour: White Wine
  • Nose: Peaty, Smokey
  • Palate: Peat, Oily, Powerful, Hospital Bandages
  • Finish: Long
  • Drinkability: 6.8,5.5,5.5,5.5,7.0,6.0,7.5,7.3
  • Notes: It’s Islay, so it is gonna have some peat.
    Smooooother with H2O. Water makes it more better. Water takes the edge off.
    Its got a bite.

Arran Machrie Moor Peated Malt

Fun Facts:

  • It’s named after the mystical peat bog on the western part of Arran, which is strewn with standing stones.

NSC Comments:

  • Colour: White Wine
  • Nose: Peaty, somewhat nutty, sulpher
  • Palate: Spicy, Creamy, Smooth, Oily
  • Finish: Long
  • Drinkability: 7.0,7.0,6.0,6.5,7.9,6.8,7.2,6.6
  • Notes: Bites hard, that dog.
