Ah Doug… The man served up actually 5 bottles that night, not just the three below, but the Club was up to the challenge. Pretty sure that not a lot got done by the group the next day, mind you.


Round 1: Macallan Quest

Fun Facts:

  • We’ve never met a Macallan we didn’t like…

NSC Comments:

  • Colour: Mahogany to Gold
  • Nose: Floral, Chocolate, Fruit, Carmel
  • Palate: Smooth, Creamy
  • Finish: Short with no burn, light, some sherry
  • Beautiful, Sweet at the end, honey aftertaste
  • Nice finish, not a bite to it.
  • Drinkability: 7.25,7.0,7.2,7.5,7.5,7.75

Round 2: Lindores Lowland MCDXCIV

Cost: $100 CDNRegion: Lowland

Fun Facts:

  • Lindores Abbey is the officially recognized site of the first recorded distillation of Scotch whisky, all the way back in 1494, when King James IV commissioned Brother John Cor to make aqua vitae with eight bolls of malt.

NSC Comments:

  • Colour: Copper to Straw
  • Nose: Floral
  • Palate: Spicy, Oily, Powerful, pepper oil
  • Finish: Long & Spicy
  • A tar burn, water recommended
  • Water Required! Makes it.
  • Drinkability: 7.0,7.1,7.3,6.5,7.5

Bonus Round: Powers Single Port Still Irish Whiskey

Cost: $86 CDNRegion: Ireland

Fun Facts:

  • A single pot still release of Powers whiskey. It’s matured in a combination of bourbon and oloroso sherry casks, and named after the distillery where it was first made, now sadly closed.

  • Colour: Copper to Gold
  • Nose: Floral, Fruit
  • Palate: Smooth, Creamy, Oily, Toffee
  • Finish: Long,
  • Very nice, very good value
