Yes… this session is from November 2021 and yes, was not published until March 2022. This is probably going to come up on my annual review. I plead the 5th, but here we go…
The start of SEASON 6 for the Nanoose Scotch Club and Ron has the hosting duty. We gathered in front of the living room fire, and had a great evening as usual. What a group!
Round 1: Port Askaig 100
Cost: $105 CDN
Region: Islay
Fun Facts:
One of the gateway Ports to Islay
NSC Comments:
Colour: Between Straw and White Wine
Nose: Peaty primarily, Smoke, Spice, Fruit hint
Palate: Oily Peat, with power, but some cream to it
Finish: Looooonnnnnnngggggg
Big difference with water, just so much smoother
Strong, yet somehow smooth, not peat really, just smoke
Much better with water
H20 helps with the medicinal, really makes an impact
Cardhu has in the past been variously known as Cardow and Cardoor from the gaelic ‘black rock’. The spellings all refer to the same hamlet, in the heart of Speyside, on the stretch of the river known as Knockando.
NSC Comments:
Colour: Just look at the bloody image, man.
Nose: Fruity for all, Chocolate, Spice
Palate: Fruity, Citrus, Floral, Light, some Oil
Finish: Sharp Drop, no finish
Not much there, very thin
A beginner Scotch, ouch
Add honey to it, and take for the sniffles, boring
