Masataka Taketsuru was the founder of Nikka and father of Japanese whisky.
NSC Comments:
Colour: Sherry colored, but not overly dark.
Nose: Medicinal nose, Sherry
Palate: Pleasant on the palate
Finish: Doesn’t last long, nice finish but short, a little honey
Water doesn’t make any real difference, almost tastes more like a liquor than a whiskey
Too mild, but a nice, pretty bottle!
Drinkability: 4.5,3,4,4,5,3,5
Round 2: Suntory Hibiki Japanese Harmony

Fun Facts:
WEB SITE INFO: Drivers of automobiles, motorcycles(including passengers), or bicycles are not able to drink alcohol.
NSC Comments:
Premable: Keith’s droning on and on and on and on received a 9 out of 10 for the blah, blah. We were very thirsty by the time we had to cut him off.
Colour: Nice color to it.
Finish: Sweetness on the tongue, lingers a bit, not strong
A bit harsh at the end, but become quite palatable after a few sips. H2O doesn’t do much either way.
Questionable value @ $126
Drinkability: 5,6,6.5,5,7,7,7
Bonus Round: Chivas Regal – Mizunara
Cost: $85 CDN
Region: Scotland
Fun Facts:
The oldest distillery in the north of Scotland. In the 13th century Dominican monks used a spring nearby to provide water for the brewing of beer. The same water with a touch of calcium hardness and scarcely any peat character has been used in the distillation of whisky since at least 1786.
NSC Comments:
Colour: Dark, dark colour
Palate: Very smooth, creamy up front.
Consistent throughout, almonds roasted over “urinated mesquite” (thanks for that, Keith)
Finish: No bite at the end, stays with you, very pleasant. Not a rough edge to be found.
