Round 1: Bruichladdich Scottish Barley – The Classic Laddie

Cost: $73 CDNRegion: Islay

Fun Facts:

NSC Comments:

  • Carmel, fruity, sweet even
  • Strong alcohol smell to begin
  • Apricots, Vanilla, Citrus
  • Some think water improved it. Some opinions were “I like it just the was it was”
  • Keith said (regarding the water) “If I wanted a blended bloody scotch I would buy it”

Round 2: Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old

Cost: $93 CDNRegion: Islay

Fun Facts:

NSC Comments:

  • Cherry on the nose, not finding the “pesto” although
  • Not so aggressive on the nose
  • Fades on taste quite quickly
  • Has a sweetness that does come through 

Macaloney’s Blair Athol & MacDuff

Cost: $95 CDNRegion: Highland

Fun Facts:

  • This is a blend of two casks from Blair Athol and MacDuff – a “guest whisky” from Victoria Caledonian while they wait for their own spirit to mature.

NSC Comments:

  • Rich deep colour 
  • Sweet nose, not strong alcohol
  • Smoke on the nose
  • Strong alcohol in the Taste
  • Taste flat,  Smelled of burning tires
  • Water takes the pepper out of it
  • Not good value
  • Keith will attempt to return the heel for credit in his next life
  • Crazy than a shit house mouse
  • New neighborhood show blower arrives on the 24th
