The village and distillery of Aberlour are in the heart of Speyside.
Recently the whisky was made by Ian Mitchell, who was born in the distillery grounds, died in 1992 and was preceded in his job by his father and grandfather.
The distillery is noted for its pristine cleanliness and fastidious attention to detail.
The water comes from St. Drostan’s well.

Citrus
Round 2: Isle of Jura – Superstition Lightly Peated
Cost: $70 CDN
Region: Highland
Fun Facts:
The distillery (established 1825) is nestled at the foot of Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis (elevation 4,406′).It was owned for a time by Scottish & Newcastle Breweries and its malt whisky is an important component of the Mackinlay blends.
Less than 10% of the spirit is matured in sherry casks and the rest in second-fill Scotch whisky casks.
It gets its water from a spring called the Bhaille Mharghaidh which flows over rock and carries very little peat.
The two pairs of stills are amongst the tallest in the industry, a factor contributing to a light and pure spirit.
NSC Comments:
Lite Smokey
Smooth
Robust but the finish did not last as long as expected
Dark in colour
Bonus Round: Central City – Lohin McKinnon Whiskey

Region: Surrey, BC
Fun Facts:
It is made in freaking Surrey, BC!
Malcolm’s bottle is “Lot 0001”
NSC Comments:
Complicated
No nose in the bottle, but a good nose once in the glasss
Smells strong but not to the taste
Most liked it better with a drop of water
Additional comment from Ron – The bonus bottle was a whiskey from Surrey BC – very light color but very complex taste – one that I would buy.
